This book is for all the lovers out there. I send this to you with all my love. Has your heart been broken? You loved once but that love was not returned or you have lost your true love. A poem can be like that sad song we love to play over and over. When we are feeling down can touch or speak to us deep within, comforting somehow, offering a beacon of light. This is a book of poems written from that place, when we can't yet see the light at the end of the tunnel. The idea of writing enough poems for a book surprised me more than anyone, but here it is, and I still have more poems to include in future books. I hope you enjoy them.

Her ability to write authentic, realistic battle scenes will keep you up at night!

BOOK REVIEWS: “It was my great good fortune to read and review Cheryl Pula's first book in the Eighth AF Series. That's when I got hooked. Now that I have read them all, I feel that I have traveled right through WWII with the best crewmates a guy could serve with. It's all there, from basic airmanship to heroism. There are few reasons to not want to see a war end. One would be an end to Cheryl's B-17 stories.” Bob Hynes, Yankee Air Museum Director, Retired Broadcaster, WXYZ-TV, WJR Radio.

“Knowing that these books are based on true stories makes them all the more exciting, and Ms. Pula really knows how to write a cliffhanger ending!” Adrien M. Synnott SSG (Ret) ARNG.

“Great book. I could not put it down once I started reading it. Cheryl once again has done a great job with portraying the facts of what happened during WWI, then bringing it back to life through the characters in the book.” Joe Shay, Sherrill, NY.

On a lonely dark road in Ireland, drenched and cold from the lashing rain, Nan, a tough Irish grandmother and Jack her companion search frantically for their old dog who has mysteriously disappeared from the back of their campervan on their way to the Airport. Panic grips a tearful Jack like a coiled snake around her throat and she makes a disastrous decision that drives them into a deep ditch hindering their search even further.
A dramatic search continues for Bendog in the following weeks, involving neighbours, radio appeals, local adverts and false leads. The family are devastated as no-one has seen nor heard of him.
They do not give up hope and leave an outside light on, just in case.
3 months later during a family holiday in Spain, out of the blue a stray dog approaches the family as they are leaving for the beach. She is the image of Bendog, although smaller and much younger.
The children, Matt 10 years old and his sister Lucy 8 years old are delighted and comforted by the resemblance to their old Bendog. Lucy believes she can ‘talk dog’ and begins speaking secret messages into the little dog’s ears.
They return from their days outing to find an awesome discovery of lost treasure sitting outside their gate. Great jubilations are abundant as Lucy’s resolve of being able to ‘talk dog’ gather momentum and are ushered quickly into the garden to meet ‘The Nan’ before falling foul to rotten tomatoes etc. hurtling through the warm air from retired neighbors as they cling to their precious siesta time.
A plan is hatched to take our new arrival around the neighbourhood in case she is recognised and reunited with her owner. We drop into the local bar for refreshments and pass the perky peacocks on our route home. Lucy is delighted that no-one has recognised her and we decide to take her to the vets to see if she is micro chipped, which may lead to an address. Information is obtained from the vet and much to the dismay of Lucy an address is located.
Meantime to help cheer Lucy up Nan dresses the dog and Lucy in Spanish costumes and the little furry sweetheart sports a Sombrero. As we parade around the village square, all Spanish eyes smiling as we walk by.
We are just about to leave when we are approached by two boys who tell Nan and I that they know who owns the dog. Lucy, upset at this news insists that we all follow the boys to their friends address, just in case they have wanted the cute pup for themselves.
But, it's true, she really does have a home and we are greeted by the boys’ mother and two sets of twin toddler’s. The mother explains that she can’t manage the dog and all the children and amazingly offers ‘Milly’ to us to look after. Lucy is ecstatic and delighted and re-names her ‘Millylilly’.
Unfortunately their is just one snag. The mother is not sure the father will agree to letting Milly-Lilly go? And she won’t have a definite answer until after the weekend. We agree to return first thing Monday to find out and Lucy whispers into Millylilly’s ears another secret message before jumping back into the campervan.
At 9am on the Monday morning we roooooorrrred up to the door to find the mother, stern faced waiting on the step, and no sign of Milly. Our hearts plummeted and Lucy’s tears started to fall down her face. But…just then the door opened slightly and out ran Millylilly up into the arms of Lucy, followed by the elder boy carrying her bed and a large bag of food.
“But how will we take her back to England?” asked Matt’
“No problem, replied Nan, we'll bring her back in the campervan all the way through Europe”.
But then, that’s another story.

Some of us have been misinformed about what it takes to succeed.

We were taught to work hard, never give up, and pay our dues with blood, sweat and tears in order to get what we want.

And lots of us have been practicing that ? slowly but surely driving ourselves into a state of overwhelm and exhaustion.

It turns out that was bad advice.

For a variety of reasons.

Because working hard for what you want doesn't actually work that well. It's unreliable, it's a long road there, and it isn't much fun. Not to mention we we wear ourselves ? physically and emotionally ? in the process.

There's a better way to bring your dreams to life ? and although it seems radical it makes perfect sense from a physics perspective and is also proven to be highly effective. I'm talking about doing less to get more. About embracing the art of doing "nothing" while still creating lots of good "something."

It's called Slacker Manifesting: the art of chilling out to get what you want.

If you've been driving yourself to exhaustion without getting the results you really want, this book is for you.

It covers what slacker manifesting is, why it makes all the difference in dreams coming true, and how to practice it.

Including how to get past the "yeah buts" that keep us from being willing to slow down and enjoy life more:

But don't some things HAVE to be done?
If I don't do it, no one will.
Isn't anything worth having worth working hard for?
Others will think I'm lazy.
It sounds too good to be true (that doing less results in more).
I don't know how to change.
I tried it and it didn't work.
I don't have the freedom to practice this.

It also includes slacking success stories in a variety of areas of life, including weight loss, a cancer cure, a financial windfall, gaining new skills, knocking out to do lists, finding a lost dog, and more.

I wrote Slacker Manifesting specifically for:

people who don't understand why they're exerting more effort than ever but getting less than fabulous results
for those who unknowingly sabotage their success by working too hard for it
for folks who are afraid that if they let their guard down and enjoy life a little, they'll fall behind
and for people who might understand (theoretically) that working harder doesn't work ? but have a hard time trusting and practicing it.

The reality is many of us are trying very hard to create what we want, not realizing that trying hard actually keeps us from the happy ending we want.

So if you're curious about another alternative; if you'd like to let go of the struggle; if you suspect there's more to life than you're experiencing; and if you would like to investigate a way to enjoy the journey while STILL getting the goods, this book is for you.

Slacking your way to success requires a willingness to drop old habits, to ignore the opinion of those around you still doing things the old way, and to consciously restructure your beliefs. But the rewards are well worth it.

And if you've already read it, I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences here on the Slacker facebook page.

My sincere thanks for playing with a new way of getting what you want.

The world will be a more more satisfied and happier place because of you and your slacker ways!

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Memorable Meals with Quilty Illustrated by Ohm Pattanachoti【電子書籍】[ Rip William ]

'Memorable Meals with Quilty' is a book of seven short stories about the love of food and wine. It is a romantic look at dining on the grand scale, harking back to when people ate extravagantly. Quilty, a man of considerable size and personality, is at the end of his life, so he enlists our narrator, Sprite, to join him on his final quest, revisiting his favourite haunts for one last meal.
Each whimsical journey is an epicurean delight, and through the use of fictional restaurants a particular style of cuisine is championed. Quilty, the passionate gourmet, passes along interesting and informative tidbits from his long experience to our storyteller. No meal, however, is truly memorable without the addition of a little humour and pathos. So the recipe for each story is a sprinkling of nonsense, a dash of sorrow, and a final touch of folly.
Award winning Thai Artist Ohm Pattanachoti has contributed drawings for each story.
Stories include:-
'The Last Champion of Escoffier' reminds people of the important contribution this famous chef has made to modern cooking, and at the same time we discover Quilty's passion for food and wine came about as a result of unrequited love.
'A Tuscan Tarantella' turns out to be more than a feast celebrating one of Italy's finest food areas, we learn of Quilty's amazing ability to dance.
'A Greek Drama' finds Quilty caught in a clash between traditional cooking and modern interpretation, and in true Hellenic fashion, catharsis results.
'A Chinese Rebellion' - It's not just the Peking Duck that gets a roasting in this Cantonese feast when Quilty loses his temper.
'Lunching with Carmen' - Back on his feet after suffering a mild heart attack Quilty makes a nostalgic visit to a famous Spanish restaurant, and despite the fact it has changed with the times the presence of the owner's fiery daughter ignites youthful passions.
'Divine Wind' ? Quilty, confined to quarters as a result of a minor stroke, gets his old friend Yoshi Agastuma to cook a Japanese lunch at his home, however a foreboding atmosphere of mortality pervades the feast.
'The Tears of Lebanon'- With Quilty's passing Sprite tenderly recalls their final lunch together at Madame Habib's famous Lebanese restaurant, and reveals a surprising secret.

A collection of 22 short stories from the bizarre to the truly chilling as the author takes you along for a roller coaster ride, welcoming you to the darker side of humanity. She delves into the shadowy world of obsessions, addictions, death and the loss of innocence and imagination. She takes an honest, in depth look at things that happen all around us, yet we tend to ignore. Here we are forced to look at the pain of what it means to be human in all its various facets and to truly explore the face that looks back at us in the mirror. No one is truly good or truly evil; nothing is exclusively beautiful or ugly, we are a sublime mix of the two, walking the tightrope median between the two opposites. The author expects the reader to think about what he has just read and to question the so called normalcy of everyday life. She peels back the layers to reveal the hidden skeletons in the closet. Fear, doubt, depression, loneliness, bulimia are only some of the elements which are open for discussion. As a society we have shied away from the darker aspects that are certainly part and parcel of who we are. Surely the path to true wisdom and resolution of these issues lies in the enlightenment thereof, the dusting off of the cobwebs in the cupboard. From the age of mythology as in The other side of truth, the human race has given free rein to this dark element; whilst the lesson of being careful what you wish for is humorously explored in What the cat dragged in, a modern take on an age old fairy tale. Throughout life we lose innocence, childish imagination and the sheer joy at the creation of a new life. These elements are highlighted in the stories, Imagination as well as The Foetus. As a native of South Africa one of the stories has been set specifically in the Apartheid era, revealing the pain of having a different coloured skin than has been deemed normal- Outsider. Cyber Voyeur explores the obsession we have developed with social networking as a whole; whilst Spring cleaning and Grave tears explores the world of murderous intentions, both premeditated and involuntary. The stories truly run the gamut of the human experience and are richly and superbly portrayed.

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】My Life On The Kitchen Floor【電子書籍】[ Jelta Fredericks ]

My life on the kitchen floor is the memoir of a young girl who found herself in a village not knowing where she came from or who her family was. In the heart of the apartheid era, this little girl was found in the middle of nowhere and unsure of what race she really was. Too fair-skinned to be a “black” African yet too tanned to be a “white” African, she did not know where she fitted in.

Taken in by an elderly lady with special needs, she grew up on a kitchen floor where she learnt to survive on the bare minimum. Hunger was rife, however she managed to survive against all odds and was fortunate enough to document her life story… Where was she from? How did she get to the village she ended up in? This memoir takes the reader through an emotional journey of a woman putting the pieces of her life together to try and make sense of her origin. The story is a true example of how one can overcome, endure and survive...

I would sincerely like to thank my daughter-in-law, Christal Fredericks, who helped me complete this journey. I find myself at a loss for words that she selflessly gave up her time to help me put the pieces of this puzzle together and create this memoir of my life. We were on this journey together and shared tears together as I walked her through each chapter. I am ever so grateful that I completed this task with her at my side.

This journey has created a new-found love for each other and with God by our side, we were able to finish this together.

This book is about answering the following question: what would the smartest person of all time know if he were living today in our postmodern, porno-preferrin’, politically corrected, projectile-vomit-inducing, classless, celebrity-worshippin’, no-mercy givin’, grossly under-medicated world?

And what wisdom could he impart to us today, to save us from many of our foolish expenditures of time, money, blood, sweat, tears, our sanity, and even our very lives?

Well, maybe not quite the kind of wisdom you’d think.

The reason for this can be found in the very nature of wisdom, in the very nature of Socrates himself. Socrates knew that knowledge, true knowledge was almost always the direct opposite of the popularly prevailing notions that are on offer within the general population at any given time.

Kisses from a Distance is an engaging, true story that examines the Lebanese ethos through the lives and travails of three families before and after immigration to America. The tale begins in 1895 at a remote convent in the mountains of Lebanon where a young postulant, the author's grandmother, is abducted and given into an unanticipated, and unwanted, marriage.

The book takes the reader on a personalized journey through the tragedies caused by war, famine, pestilence, and death, one that examines an emerging post-feudal Lebanese society, and the conditions that impelled the great migration that took place between 1885 and 1914.

"The population had long since exceeded the land's ability to sustain it, and soon the few pebbles that tumbled down the mountain and rolled onto ships heading west, became an avalanche of humanity seeking passage to the land of opportunity."
Kisses from a Distance; Chapter 3, p. 37.

This work is not the normal nostalgic reminiscences of a memoir writer but an important historical document told in an engaging non-historical style. There are no dry recitations of dates and events but instead an interestingly woven tale of circumstances as lived by the principal characters in the story. The reader is taken on a rewarding journey that utilizes rare documents to relate the story in the characters' own words.

Reviewer Sam Hazo, Director of the International Poetry Forum in Pittsburgh, Pa. had this to say: "This book has something for all whose personal or family history includes immigration. And, since we are a nation of immigrants, this includes all of us."

Helen Thomas, former dean of The White House correspondents, remarked that Kisses... "Brought tears to my eyes. It is beautifully written."

Raff Ellis is a former computer industry executive and a frequent writer of short stories, essays, and magazine articles. He spent nearly eight years researching and writing Kisses, his first full length book, and his journey, so worthwhile for him, will reward the reader as well.

Mr. Ellis has been interviewed on NPR, MTV Lebanon, given a book lecture at the National Archives in Washington, DC, and lectured at the top four universities in Lebanon.

Granpa called him Little Sprout; when he grew taller, he became Little Tree. From Granpa he absorbed the Cherokee ethic; to give love without expecting gratitude, to take from the land only what you need. Little Tree watches a mountain storm when Nature is birthing Spring, learns bird signs and wind songs and which crops to plant by the dark of the moon. He hears the true story of the Cherokee Trail of Tears, and why it is not the Indian who wept, but the watching white man. From a Jewish peddler who came every season to Granpa's store he learns a lesson in charity; from a sharecropper he learns to understand misplaced pride. He escapes death through Granpa's courage and confronts, for the first time, the hypocrisy and brutality of white Americans.Much of the lore passed from generation to generation by word of mouth is found in these stories in "The Education of Little Tree," autobiographical if not all factually accurate. For instance, Granma is based on family memories of Carter's great-great-great grandmother (Granpa's great-grandmother), who was a full Cherokee, combined with the author's own mother, who read Shakespeare to him when he was a child. But Granpa is all and forever true in this storyteller's memoir of a time that ended when Little Tree was ten and Granpa died.

AUTHORS NOTE:

Fourth in this 'Outback Australia' series from 1899 to 1902 in Australian history. Australians fought in the Boer War in South Africa. Federation of our nation. Two great events in our history during this period. Although this book is fictional many of the events are true in our history. Each character is created from my imagination.
One important addition to this book is a song written by my fellow member of Pomona Writers Group. At one meeting Evie Pikler asked to sing a song she'd written more than thirty years before. Evie sang 'Australia Calls Us Home'. Tears welled in my eyes after she finished her song. I asked her if she'd permit me to include her song into this book. Evie agreed. Click onto this link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5T6OspSrvY to watch Evie's great song of 'Australia Calls Us Home'. I thank Evie from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to use her song in this book.

Story Thus Far:

‘Tilbaroo Station’

‘Tilbaroo Station’ is the third book in 'Outback Australia' series. Joe discovers an artisan bore on ‘Tilbaroo Station’. Nat wants all of his nine remaining properties to have bores. The only person who divined for water is deceased. By accident Hannah discovers a student in her class, ten-year-old Ryan Carlson who discovers water on Nat’s property.
Underground artisan water is discovered in 1897. Ryan’s father, Todd Carlson, Chief Engineer for Queensland Railway Department employed to build the rail link from Charleville to Cunnamulla has been selected by The Honourable Joseph Ryan, Esquire, MLA to oversee the bores established in the region. A committee is formed with Joe Gibson, Nat Young being members of the committee. Todd Carlson, Chairman.
By the end of 1898 a newly constructed Cunnamulla Railway Station has been built. Underground water discovered on many of Nat Young’s properties. Todd Carlson, Chairman of ‘Great Artisan Water Basin Committee’ has been appointed Commissioner of Water Resources for Queensland. The story continues:

‘The Year That Never Was’

‘The Year That Never Was’ is the fourth book in 'Outback Australia' series. This is an exciting period for Australia because after Captain Cook discovered Australia in 1770, settled by Europeans, Australia finally became a Nation with the election of their first Prime Minister. Also, young Australians represented their Colony on behalf of British Empire left their homeland to fight Boers in the 'Boer War' in South Africa.

Terrorism, which is one of the most important topics in the world today, refers to any act designed to cause 'terror' by means of violence or the threat of violence. As a fundamental rule, terrorism is politically and emotionally charged, because it is meant to instill fear within, and thereby intimidate people ? an entire country or even the whole world. Terrorism is certainly frightening, but the best way we can fight it is by living our lives without terror.
At the UN webpage on terrorism, we read: "Countering this scourge is in the interest of all nations and the issue has been on the agenda of the United Nations for decades."
Now we can understand why Poets from 43 different countries have written a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and to the Presidents of each of the countries whence they come from.
As stated in the letter to Mr Ban Ki-moon: “Through the poems, we wish to express our unanimous desire for universal peace and to add our voice to those other unequivocal voices at the United Nations who say 'NO' to the scourge of terrorism”.
It is a symbolic gesture, but it highlights their commitment as "Poets against Terror".

As Fabrizio Frosini, the publisher, says: “I started this editorial project after the murdering of so many innocents in Paris, on November 13, 2015, as a tribute to them and to the countless other victims of terror, worldwide. I started the project, but it is a collective book: a compilation of poems written by poets from 43 different countries, worldwide, who believe in peace and brotherhood, and are against any kind of 'terror'.

Other voices of the Poets:

This project is about compassion for the victims of terrorism, it's a celebration of a simple equation: 'violence = more violence; peace = peace'. We have made it clear, we are not debating causes, but mourning a particular 'effect' which is the intentional murder of innocents''. - D.J. Brick, USA

As someone born in Sri Lanka, a country that will always be remembered as the birth place of the suicide bombing, I can only offer my own tears to lessen the pain and to heal from this terrible plague and my own sweat to lay one brick to build a universal home for peace. - D. Gunawardana, Sri Lanka

Our losses are painful, but terror is a tool of manipulation via frightening, so we should search for the true reasons and not react blindly. - G. Italyanskaya, Russia

The most difficult aspect to accept about all the senseless violence in the world is the fact that we are doing this to each other, and that by now negative political, religious and social dynamics have become so complex that it is hard to believe in a better future. Therefore, each person must begin with him- or herself in contributing peace and non-violent solutions to our shared humanity. - B. B. Linder, Germany

Iwe neni tikabatana, nyika inobudirira (in Shona)
You are because I am, together we can make the world a better place - T. Makadho, Zimbabwe

I gave rise to much kindness, I think of all the people and children and the hearts of silence cry, I admit a new faith without cruel life, how to find words how dare to dare. - I. Molnar, Sweden

What is gained from the killing of children, people shopping for food, those just passing by? - L. Beck, USA

The dead body of the 3-year-old on the beach will haunt humanity forever, if we can't put an end to terrorism! - A.
“A Tragic & Inspirational Story Told by a Woman Who Can Not Speak”
What would you do if you suddenly found everything you knew was taken away from you? What if in the blink of an eye, you no longer were able to speak, walk, work, or dress yourself? What would you do if you could not even tell your children that you loved them? For Debbie Killebrew, these horrible questions came true in one night of drinking that changed her life forever. However, Debbie has fought to overcome the impossible, even when she was told that she would never walk again, never drive again, and never live a normal life again. Her inspiring true story will show you that no matter what twists and turns life takes, you can get up and keep going ? and also serves as an unfortunately realistic testimony about how drinking and driving can truly take away everything you know.

“If she could form the words she would talk of regret for ignoring her twin boys when they begged her not to leave that night. If she could cry, she would try to wash away the sorrow. But the tears can’t come. If she had full use of her hands, she might try to hold on to the past.
Family Traditions are an integral part of healthy, happy families and food plays a central role in these traditions.
In my family we have always had special family traditions that revolve around the holidays. These traditions inevitably involve food. Food bring people together and gives them a common ground for sharing stories and memories.
Food is also a great reminderーwhen I pull out an old recipe, I think about where it came from. I think of the people who shared the recipe with me and about those who enjoyed that particular recipe the most. I’m reminded of friendships, laughter and sometimes even tears.
When I bake Christmas cookies, I enjoy remembering the stories behind the baking. I think of my sister Debbie, who is no longer with us. I remember her smile and laughter as I bake date-nut pinwheel cookies and scalloped potatoes; I remember the year I hid some of the cookies away so they wouldn’t be eaten before Christmas, only to find them the next year under the counter still in their cans.
Traditions give the gift of memories and good memories are priceless gifts to share with the ones we love.
Family Traditions - Christmas Baking is a Recipe Book I put together for my family to pass along our Christmas food traditions.

Zachary Callahan is the darkly handsome editor of a magazine dedicated to proving that cold, hard scientific fact reign supreme. When he hears about a small-town shop selling "love potions", he's determined to prove that there's no such thing.

To his chagrin, shop proprietor Bryony Lowell -- with her wide, dreamy green eyes and enchanting red-gold hair -- won't sell him her allegedly magical elixir. It's only when he accepts a bet and agrees to take the potion himself that he realizes that his heart's in danger.

Will Zach fall under Bryony's spell? He's determined to win the bet, but for some reason he can't stop thinking about what it would be like to tangle his fingers in her coppery hair and draw her close for just one kiss....

EXCERPT

"Just listen, please? Both of you. I've got the solution to this whole mess."

Zach shrugged. "It can't hurt to hear her out."

"Fine, but that's all I'm doing," Bryony said. "Listening."

She stuck out her bottom lip like a rebellious child and stole a peek at Zach. He was rocking back on his heels, his muscular arms crossed, his brows arched in amused anticipation. He looked totally cool and collected, the opposite of how she felt. Her cheeks still burned, and her throat ached with suppressed tears.

How dare he, she thought. Underneath the outrage, however, lurked a different sentiment. Discovering Zach's true identity, Bryony had suddenly seen herself through his eyes. He must view her as just another flaky female to ridicule and expose.

Three sets of eyes focused on Vivien, who was obviously relishing her role as the center of attention. "I propose a test," she said. "A test of Bryony's love elixir. We'll prove it works -- to your satisfaction, Mr. Callahan."

Zach snorted.
