Hardly any other literary work disposes of such a huge collection of real mythology, history, and folklore, and it is nearly impossible to examine all characters', creatures' and objects' roots. That's why this paper will focus only on one aspect, namely the mythology appearing in the novels. When dealing with this topic, some questions arise, that shall be answered in this paper: Which myths, of which kind and origin appear in the stories? How does Rowling use, embed, and modify them and how does this affect the stories? To answer these questions first it is important to define the term myth. Then some mythic structures appearing in the novels will be examined, followed by a selection of mythic creatures, and mythic characters. Here some chosen creatures and characters out of the novels, as well as their mythical equivalents will be presented and compared to each other. Das Problem bei solchen Filmgespr?chen ist, dass dem Zuschauer auf der einen Seite Informationen ?bermittelt werden m?ssen, diese Informationsweitergabe auf der anderen Seite jedoch in einen realistischen, logischen Zusammenhang gestellt werden muss. Da ein Drehbuchautor diesem Zwiespalt nicht immer entkommen oder ihn zumindest geschickt umgehen kann, treffen wir h?ufig auf Filmszenen, die befremdlich wirken. Der Ursprung der Literaturform 'Roman' liegt im Epos, wobei dessen archaisches, von G?ttern durchwaltetes Weltbild1 erst aufgel?st werden mu?te, um die moderne Dichtungsform des Romans zu erm?glichen. Das 'Prinzip des eine in sich gef?gte Welt umgreifenden Horizonts und seiner auf Mythen und Sagen beruhenden Allgemeinverbindlichkeit'1 wurde somit abgelegt. An dieser Stelle kn?pft das Fantasy-Genre nun an, indem es Elemente des Epos wieder aufnimmt; d.h. in der Personenkonstellation, der Handlung und vor allem dem Setting werden irreale, mystische und fantastische Elemente als Grundprinzipien vereinigt. So f?hrte sie Regie bei "Peer Gynt" von Henrik Ibsen, "Kr?fte" von August Stramm und "Good Girl Gone Bad - Der Braun-Ensslin-Komplex" nach Monologen von Christine Br?ckner. Ihre Inszenierung von "Love(Hate)Love - Ein Sommernachtstraum" nach William Shakespeare wurde beim Versionale-Festival 2010 in Leipzig mit dem Publikums- und dem Jurypreis ausgezeichnet. Seit Herbst 2013 ist Chiara Nassauer am Theater Paderborn t?tig.
