After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) seized power in 1949, CCP leader Mao Zedong was portrayed as a deity by the CCP propaganda machine. In the early 1960s, Mao's authority was weakened by political adversaries. To eliminate and rectify these adversaries, Mao, leveraging his personal prestige, incited the Chinese people to attack his political enemies. During this time, ignorant Chinese citizens, in their support for Mao Zedong, became a significant aspect of their lives. In the process of discerning which CCP officials were loyal to Mao Zedong, various factions emerged. They debated and argued, escalating from verbal disputes to physical confrontations. With Mao Zedong's tacit approval, they seized weapons from military units across the country, leading to the infamous "armed struggles" known as the "Cultural Revolution."

In Guangxi Province (now Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region), the victors of these armed struggles, also known as "Red Guards," engaged in mass killings of their opponents, and in some cases, even resorted to cannibalism. This later evolved into the consumption of specific groups designated by the CCP government as "landlords, rich peasants, capitalists, bad elements, rightists," and more. The alleged crimes of these designated groups were arbitrarily defined by the CCP regime. This arbitrary determination served as their "law."

The novel "The Proud Butcher" reflects this horrifying and brutal history of "man-eat-man." It depicts a grim reality where killing is done arrogantly, and the arrogant even resort to cannibalism.

Warning: If you lack the courage, please refrain from reading this novel.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。
