Our illustrated travel guide will take you to the famous city of Granada in Spain.

Granada is located in the Andalucia region of Spain. Rich in history and culture, Granada is arguably the single most worthwhile city in Spain for a tourist. In addition to a rich multicultural history, the Alhambra and other monuments, a student-driven nightlife, and skiing and trekking in the nearby Sierra Nevada, Granada offers a break from the summer heat of other Andalusian cities such as C?rdoba or Seville. Spring and Fall are also both excellent times to visit.

With much more cultural interest than other cities like Malaga, Granada is never overcrowded (although one should still book tickets to the Alhambra at least one day in advance).

Finding Internet access when out and about can be problematic so carry your mobile guidebook in the palm of your hand. We include a fully linked Table of Contents and internally to access context-specific information quickly and easily when offline.
Depending on where they come from, people who want to visit South Africa may need a visa. Contact the South African embassy or consulate in your area to find out more.

South Africa's summer is mildest between June and August, and its winter is mildest between November and February. Still, the best time to go varies a lot depending on what you want to do and where you want to go. For example, if you want to go on a safari, the best time seems to be from May to October.

Some of the most popular places to visit in South Africa are Cape Town, Kruger National Park, the Garden Route, and the Drakensberg Mountains. There are, however, many more places to see, so your schedule should take into account your interests and preferences.

South Africa has a good road system, so tourists often rent cars to travel around the country. You can also fly or take a bus within the country to get where you need to go.

South Africa has some safety problems, so be careful and aware of what's going on around you. When you're out at night, stay in well-lit places, walk with a friend, and keep your valuables close.

Culture of the area: South Africa has many different kinds of music, dance, and food, all of which add to the country's long and interesting cultural history. Riding with Reindeer A Bicycle Odyssey through Finland, Lapland and Arctic Norway【電子書籍】[ Robert M. Goldstein ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Riding with Reindeer A Bicycle Odyssey through Finland, Lapland and Arctic Norway【電子書籍】[ Robert M. Goldstein ]

In the summer of 2007, Robert Goldstein departs Helsinki on a self-supported bicycle epic across Finland with the goal of pedaling to the Barents Sea. Aboard a folding bicycle towing a wagon, he weathers furious storms, survives a near-disastrous accident and obsesses whether he will be eaten by a bear as he makes his way through the remote forests of Eastern Finland. In sparsely populated Lapland, his solitude is relieved by reindeer who become his constant companions as he slowly makes his way through the Arctic. More than a travelogue, Riding with Reindeer intersperses an often humorous narrative about the author’s adventures (he manages to get trapped in the women’s shower in one remote village) with rich cultural and historical anecdotes as he passes through endless forests littered with rotted fortifications, rusted tanks and mass gravesーthe detritus of Finland’s desperate defense against a massive Soviet invasion in the winter of 1939. Riding with Reindeer gives insight into the mind of the solitary traveler and into the soul of a country whose honest and resourceful yet often taciturn citizens are always willing to lend a helping hand to the stranger on the bicycle gamely grinding his way through their “Suomi” ? literally “the end of the land.” Goldstein, who began his career as a journalist, is currently the chief financial officer for the Kitsap Regional Library system. He lives in Seattle. His first book, The Gentleman from Finland ? Adventures on the Trans-Siberian Express, received the 2006 Benjamin Franklin Award for travel writing. Riding with Reindeer was a finalist in the the travel category for 2011 Next Generation Indie Book Awards. “The one true armchair travel book I found was Robert M. Goldstein’s Riding with Reindeer, which describes his solo bike trip from Helsinki to the Barents Sea. The maps are wonderful, and the photosーso often lacking in books of this sortーadd to the book’s appealing conversational tone.” Nancy Peal in Book Lust to Go ? Recommended Reading for Travelers, Vagabonds, and Dreamers. “Goldstein’s affable good humor makes him an idea armchair traveling companion ? I laughed out loud and read passages to my husband. Stay with him to the Finnish.” Debra Dean, author of The Madonnas of Leningrad and Confessions of a Falling Woman “Robert Goldstein gives readers a riveting and fun tale that shouldn’t be missed, and makes for excellent and highly recommended reading” Midwest Book Review, July 2010 “Perfect for travelers, armchair or otherwise, cyclists and thrill seekers, Riding with Reindeer is a modern-day travel narrative filled with humor, poignancy, history and beauty.” ForeWord Reviews

In the summer of 2008 we flew our small, single engine, airplane around the edges of the contiguous United States of America. Along the way, we encountered America's small towns, National Parks, and National Monuments. On the most dangerous and exciting adventure of our lives we flew into unanticipated ghastly weather, thunderstorms, and brushed with hurricanes. In the end, we discovered a land much more complex than we had imagined, far larger than we could believe, and more beautiful than we dreamed possible. This book is the story of our flight around the edge of America, and the journey that brought us to a deeper understanding and love of our adopted country.

Adventurers of the Far North:A Chronicle of the Frozen Seas is a Canadian adventure travel classic by Stephen Leacock. The map of Canada offers to the eye and to the imagination a vast country more than three thousand miles in width. Its eastern face presents a broken outline to the wild surges of the Atlantic. Its western coast commands from majestic heights the broad bosom of the Pacific. Along its southern boundary is a fertile country of lake and plain and woodland, loud already with the murmur of a rising industry, and in summer waving with the golden wealth of the harvest.Stephen P. H. Butler Leacock, FRSC (30 December 1869 ? 28 March 1944) was a Canadian teacher, political scientist, writer, and humourist. Between the years 1915 and 1925, he was the best-known English-speaking humourist in the world.[1] He is known for his light humour along with criticisms of people's follies

This book takes a look at the most popular type of bus - the open-top bus. Although most often associated with the seaside and summer holidays, they often turn up further inland, on tourist services around towns - London being the obvious example. Open-top buses come in all shapes and forms, from purpose-built open-toppers or convertible open-toppers to vehicles that have had accidents involving their top decks. They could be a single bus, or a fleet of them. Duties could be varied - open-tops naturally being in demand during the summer months, while being put aside during winter. Being open-topped often prolonged the vehicle’s life, many lasting longer open-topped than roofed. Covering the period from the 1980s into the twenty-first century, Vernon Smith looks at buses across different parts of England, with both fleet operators and single-vehicle operators covered.

Voices of the Old Sea【電子書籍】[ Norman Lewis ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Voices of the Old Sea【電子書籍】[ Norman Lewis ]

In the late 1940s, Norman Lewis settled in a remote fishing village on what is now the Costa Brava, relishing a society where men regulated their lives by the sardine shoals of spring and autumn and the tuna fishing of summer, and where women kept goats and gardens, arranged marriages and made frugal ends meet. Over the course of three years he watches with sorrow and affection as the villagers struggle to hang on to a way of life unchanged for centuries. How long can their precarious economy, their ancient feuds and traditions - not least the evenings of impromptu blank verse in the bar - hold out against the encroaching tide of package tourism, which sidles insidiously into the village with the arrival of black-marketeer Muga?

Bilingual English/French Book (Livre bilingue anglais/fran?ais)

French Riviera is one of the first modern resort areas. It began as a winter health resort at the end of the 18th century. With the arrival of the railway it became the playground and vacation spot of British, Russian, and other aristocrats, such as Queen Victoria and King Edward VII, when he was Prince of Wales. In the summer, it also played home to many members of the Rothschild family. In the first half of the 20th century, it was frequented by artists and writers, including Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Edith Wharton, Somerset Maugham, and Aldous Huxley, as well as wealthy Americans and Europeans. After World War II, it became a popular tourist destination and convention site. Many celebrities, such as Elton John and Brigitte Bardot, have homes in the region.
The French Riviera is a major yachting and cruising area with several marinas along its coast. According to the C?te d'Azur Economic Development Agency, each year the Riviera hosts 50% of the world's superyacht fleet, with 90% of all superyachts visiting the region's coast at least once in their lifetime.
As a tourist centre it benefits from 300 days of sunshine per year, 115 kilometres (71 mi) of coastline and beaches, 18 golf courses, 14 ski resorts and 3,000 restaurants.
Although the Riviera is famous for the glamour of St. Tropez, Monaco or the Cannes Film Festival, there are many other less well known attractions, such as the perched villages of Eze and Gourdon, the perfumeries of Grasse and the glass blowers of Biot, the potters in Vallauris. The Riviera has been the inspiration for many well-known artists such as Picasso and many of their works are on display in local museums and art galleries.
For sponsorship opportunities please contact me.

Floating Low to Lofoten【電子書籍】[ Martin Edge ]

“Floating Low to Lofoten” is the story of a trip to the Norwegian Arctic aboard my 27ft yacht.

In 2008 we crossed the North Sea from the Firth of Forth, then I cruised northwards, above the Arctic Circle to north of the Lofoten Islands. Most, but by no means all of this journey, was sailed solo.

Having decided to explore the west coast of Norway a friend asked me how far up I intended to go. Without having bothered to look at a map I replied casually that I’d probably just nip up to the Lofotens. He seemed surprised. So was I when I took a quick look at a chart and saw how far up they were.

This is not, as I’m sure you can tell, a tale of conquering the savage seas against all odds. Neither does it claim to be a pilot book or sailing directions. It’s just the story of a holiday in a wee boat that went a bit further than most people manage in a summer cruise.

The whole of the landscape of the Atlantic coast of Norway is fantastically scenic, but the further north you go the more stunning it gets and I’ve tried to give a sense of that in this volume. The verdant hills, populous towns and thriving economy of rural Norway, even way up beyond the Arctic Circle, offer lessons for our barren glens and depopulated communities in Scotland.

Cruising alone in this marvellous, sheltered environment could be said to heighten the critical faculties. It could also be said to cause me to rant a lot. This is not the kind of detailed sailing log that documents the minutest of wind shifts and the colour of that morning’s ‘Y’-fronts. As well as the story of a sailing cruise it’s a series of observations about the nature, culture, people, economy and boats of the places I passed through.

This is the second in a series of cruising ‘logs’ about Zophiel’s voyages. “Skagerrak and Back” is the tale of a North Sea circuit, “A Gigantic Whinge on the Celtic Fringe” is the story of our circumnavigation of Ireland and "Bobbing to the Baltic" describes a trip from Edinburgh to the Russian border.

Recently some of the people who have been slandered in these tales have suggested that they should be used for kindling. I’ve taken these kind words to heart and published them first for Kindle and now for other e-readers.

Soon I'll be publishing two volumes about some land-based travels, entitled "Travels with my Rant" and "The Front of Beyond". These are gripping tales about nipping over dodgy borders in places like Nicaragua and Burma and being kidnapped, after a fashion, in East Timor.

This volume contains a lot of colour photographs. If you’re struggling with grainy black and white on an e-reader, there’s more sailing tales and the full set of colour photos from this volume at www.edge.me.uk/Sailinghome.htm

Taverna by the Sea: One Greek Island Summer【電子書籍】[ Jennifer Barclay ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Taverna by the Sea: One Greek Island Summer【電子書籍】[ Jennifer Barclay ]

The Taverna by the Sea is an enchanting, funny, poignant travel memoir about answering the call of adventure by taking on the challenge of running a Greek beach taverna. During a walking holiday on the island of Karpathos, a chance encounter with a Greek-American hotel owner results in a once-in-a-lifetime experience for Jennifer Barclay. The best-selling travel writer and long-term resident of Greece drops everything, returning with dog and tent to the remote bay that will form her home for one hectic, event-filled summer.

This book offers a rare account of life in north Karpathos in the South Aegean, famous for its traditional community and dramatic, rugged landscape. While primarily a light, engaging, amusing read full of anecdotes, one-liners, twists and turns - perfect for summer - Barclay's fourth book about life in Greece also conveys the life-affirming importance of trusting one's instincts, taking risks and grasping opportunities.

Wake with Jennifer to experience a summer of pink dawns over the olive grove and an empty bay, and swim with her in moonlight, hearing only the waves. Or help yourself to local cuisine - creamy yoghurt and local honey and warm figs, olive oil and rosemary, freshly baked bread, and wine on tap.

Alongside a cast of characters from farmers to fishermen, mad guests and a wicked witch, meet Minas the hotel owner, a creative, unconventional Greek-American with the ability to fix anything mechanical and create money out of thin air with food, plus a penchant for drinking, singing and falling asleep. Experience days full of music, days of no running water, and days with a goat tied to a tree - but also nights when the overworked taverna manager awoke convinced there was a large fish in the tent, and customers outside waiting to be served.

In The Taverna by the Sea, Barclay reveals what happens behind the scenes of an apparently blissful, peaceful paradise, capturing both the magic and the difficulties of island life. Underpinning an entertaining read for lovers of Greece and its cuisine is an inspiring call to live life to the full - and even escape the rat race.

Voyages from Montreal Through the Continent of North America Journey to the Arctic Ocean and the Pacific in 1789 and 1793【電子書籍】[ Alexander Mackenzie ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Voyages from Montreal Through the Continent of North America Journey to the Arctic Ocean and the Pacific in 1789 and 1793【電子書籍】[ Alexander Mackenzie ]

Voyages from Montreal Through the Continent of North America to the Frozen and Pacific Oceans in 1789 and 1793 is an account of explorations and expeditions taken by a famous Scottish explorer Alexander Mackenzie. In 1789 he took, what later became known, as Mackenzie River expedition to the Arctic Ocean. Thinking that it would lead to Cook Inlet in Alaska, Mackenzie set out by canoe on the river known to the local people as the Dehcho on 3 July 1789. On 14 July he reached the Arctic Ocean, rather than the Pacific. Ironically he called the waterway "the River Disappointment," since the river did not prove to be the Northwest Passage, as he had hoped. The river later came to be known as the Mackenzie River in his honor. Mackenzie returned to Canada in 1792, set out once again to find a route to the Pacific, what he managed in the summer of 1973. Having done this, he had completed the first recorded transcontinental crossing of North America north of Mexico, 12 years before Lewis and Clark.

Hemi Under Glass: Bob Riggle and His Wheel-Standing Mopars Bob Riggle and His Wheel-Standing Mopars【電子書籍】[ Rich Truesdell ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Hemi Under Glass: Bob Riggle and His Wheel-Standing Mopars Bob Riggle and His Wheel-Standing Mopars【電子書籍】[ Rich Truesdell ]

Look up to the skies through Bob Riggle's eyes in this wheelstanding, must-have Mopar history book on Hemi Under Glass!

While the established stock and modified brackets are long-recognized as the heart and soul of drag racing, it was the wheelstanders that more often than not put butts in the bleachers. In that category, some of the most well-known names included Bill "Maverick" Golden's Little Red Wagon, Bill Shewsberry's L.A. Dart and Chuck Poole’s Chuck Wagon. Although, most memorable of all was the Hurst Hemi Under Glass Plymouth Barracuda campaigned by Bob Riggle.

Riggle started his career in the early 1960s as a car builder and mechanic for Hurst-Campbell and eventually ascended to pilot the Hemi Under Glass. When he left Hurst in 1969, the Hemi Under Glass franchise transferred with Riggle. He continued for six more years as the owner/driver of a succession of Hemi Under Glass renditions. In the 1990s he resurrected the concept of the original carーmaking four different versions (1966, 1967, 1968, and 1969)ーand continued to thrill drag racing fans with his wheelstanding antics.

At the time of this writing, Bob’s last run with the Hemi Under Glass was in the summer of 2019. He claims to have retired (he was 83 years old at the time), but he’s claimed that before!

For all the success he enjoyed over his long and distinguished career, which is believed to be one of the longest in all of motorsports, he’s best remembered for a run at Irwindale Raceway in early 2016 with comedian and car buff Jay Leno in the passenger seat in a video that has been viewed more than 10 million times.

This is Bob’s story, one that Mark Fletcher and Richard Truesdell, co-authors of the 2012 book Hurst Equipped, are honored to share. They say the story was easy to tellーgiven their unprecedented access not only to Bob but also to his vast archive of photos that reflect his ongoing popularity. Many of the photos in this book are seen in print for the very first time.

Memories from Baltic States Book 4【電子書籍】[ John Patterson ]

Memories from Baltic States 4: This picture book, the last of 4 about travels in Estonia, Latvia Lithuania and Poland, is a record of a guided tours in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. After the tours of Kaunas in Book 3, we were driven from there to Mragowo in Poland to stay overnight. Although we had practically no time at the resort we stayed in, the adjacent lake provided some appealing photographic opportunities. The next day we were driven (a new driver and car) to Warsaw, the capital of Poland. We were met by our tour guide late morning and taken on a walking tour of the city. It seemed that the trip so far had followed rising evidence of war-horrors (churches deliberately and unnecessarily destroyed, as well as other historic buildings). By the time we reached Warsaw the appalling events became almost too large to comprehend. Although the past was, frankly, hideous, we were treated to some lovely walks and a chance to visit some interesting place. The past, though, invaded all of these. What didn’t seem to be affected was the cheerfulness of the residents. It was a summer’s day and everyone was out and having a good time. As soon as we dug a little deeper the war-horror surfaced. We were left with a great deal of gratitude that we saw Warsaw in a good way! A single day wasn’t anywhere nearly enough: maybe a return trip is required to see more of Poland and its cities. There are 94 still images, which should give a sense of the sights seen. The file size limit of the eBook format is the reason for 5 books. The original photographs (taken by author, an amateur, with amateur equipment) are very large and so need compressing to fit in the file limit. If you have wondered what such a trip might be like, have a read. If you just would like see an amateur view of the region, have a read. If you wonder what reason to visit these places, have a read, and if you can: go! Ideally, have a read and get as much enjoyment as the author did in being able to collect these ‘Memories from Baltic States’.

The White Island【電子書籍】[ Stephen Armstrong ]

The White Island is, and always has been, a magnet for hedonists. Its history reads like a history of pleasure itself. It is also a story of invasions and migrations, of artists and conmen, of drop-outs and love-ins.

The Carthaginians established a cult to their goddess of sex there, and named the island after Bez, their god of dance. Roman centurions in need of a bit of down time between campaigns would go to Ibiza to get their kicks. And over the centuries, cultures around the Med have used the island either as a playground or a dump for the kind of people who didn't quite fit in back home, but who you'd probably quite like to meet at a party...

This is the history of Ibiza, the fantasy island, framed by one long, golden summer where anything can happen - and it usually does.

Livin' In Mexico: The Real Story【電子書籍】[ Brian Burke ]

What's it like living in Mexico? It seems like a simple enough question; often asked, rarely well answered. Because Mexico is much more than just a warm sunny climate where you can beach every day if you want. For many of us, Mexico is hope. It's hope for a less complicated, simpler life, hope that every day has the potential to be the best day you've ever had. Mexico can be that one memorable summer day in your past that you've never forgotten, times 365. It's as much about what it represents; the freedoms, the leisures, endless summer, romance, walking the dog off leash on the seashore at sunset. Mexico is as much a feeling as it is a place. That's what Mexico really is. Mexico is where weary hopes and dreams take a shot at coming true.
Author Brian Burke tackles the feel of Mexico in this book that takes you down deep into expatriate culture; one folded into a tiny crease of what is Mexico. He examines Mexico from the outside, looking for the real of it.
How does it feel to live in Mexico is the question the author answers in this tale of expats, desperados, pirates, romance, Facebook (and the perils thereof), Mexico as Heaven and dead bankers bringing you beers, and the colorful characters who make a life where the sun shines hot and bright.

'I gave this gem five stars because it is so close to the bone I couldn't give it fewer.
This is a great yarn, funny and accurate.
If you live in M?xico or want to, read this.
You're in it!'

'An excellent write. Was unable to put it down. An easy read. A great read. The author has a wonderful way with words.'

'I recommend this rating as someone who has also fallen in love with Mexico. Brian's voice is raw and real, his love for Mexico evident, particularly Merida & Progreso. This is not a " How to" book so much as it is an "I Do" book, filled with humour and candidcy. Thanks for the fun read Brian!'

'Could not put it down. A great read. Much more than a story on Mexico.'

'I had been thinking about to Belize or somewhere else in Central america for quite some time, but I never even considered Mexico.
Through the pages of Brian's book, I was transformed by first hand accounts of what life is like in Mexico.
Forget all the internet research. Reading this book is All I needed to make an informed decision on whether or not I'll ever take the plunge and move there.
One thing is for sure. I definitely want to visit and vacation there after reading his book!'

'Absolutely worth a read if you're looking for clear, unvarnished truth about being an expat in Yucatan.'

'My husband and I read this book on our plane ride from Austin to M?rida on a scouting trip to Yucatan earlier this month. We loved the author's unapologetic truth as well as his imagery... we found it to be truthful and it well represented Progreso. He captures the spirit, the under belly and the promise of this part of the Yucatan coast in Mexico. Highly recommend for anyone...'

Also available bundled with 'Livin' In Mexico: What It Really Costs, Five Budgets $500 to $2500' under the name 'Livin' In Mexico: The Collection', at a reduced price.
