The purity of the fruit is remarkable. - By Antonio Galloni on March 2021 ワイナリー名 Azienda Agricola Le Macchiole アジィエンダ・アグリコーラ・レ・マッキオーレ ワイン名 Paleo Bianco パレオ ビアンコ 原産国 イタリア 地方 トスカーナ > ボルゲリ ヴィンテージ 2018 品質分類 トスカーナI.G.T. ブドウ品種 メルロー 100% 醸造・熟成 醗酵ステンレスタンク、主醗酵後 コンクリートタンクにてマロラクティック醗酵 熟成オーク樽熟成 18ヶ月(225Lと228L、新樽比率70%、仏産) 瓶熟成 16ヶ月醗酵オーク樽主醗酵後、マロラクティック醗酵 色・味わい 超・スーパーフルボディ・ずっしり超重口 トスカーナ州ボルゲリで、唯一農家がはじめたワイナリー。初代オーナー故エウジェニオ・カンポルミ氏はこの地の可能性を見出し、惜しみない努力を注いできました。メルロー100％で造られるプレミアムワイン、「メッソリオ」は2004年にワインアドヴォケイト誌で100点を獲得して以来、世界のワインファンを魅了しています。エウジェニオが亡くなった後、妻チンツィアと家族が彼の意思を引き継ぎ、2009年にはイタリア最優秀ワイナリーと評されるまでになります。トスカーナ最高峰のメルローといえばマッセート、レディガフィ、そしてメッソリオ。中でもその優美さは右岸のボルドーをも圧倒する別格の存在としてワイン・アドヴォケイト誌でも高い注目を集めています。 ただ一人、ボルゲリの農家として名を轟かす 今では死語とまで言われる「スーパータスカン」の誕生地の一つ、ボルゲリを有名にしたサッシカイアやオルネッライア。第二次世界対戦中、大好きなボルドーワインが飲めないという当時のサッシカイアのオーナーの悩みから始まったワインです。所有していた広大なボルゲリの土地の一部にボルドー品種を植え、それがいつしか評論家の目にも留まり、イタリアの一大産地へと成長したのでした。そんなスケールの大きなストーリーがあり、貴族が大半の地を所有するボルゲリの地で、ただ一人、地元の農家として新たに世界に名を轟かすカンティーナを立ち上げたのが、今は亡きエウジェニオ・カンポミル氏。彼のひたむきな努力と情熱が世界屈指のワインを生みました。 ボルゲリの個性を最も表現する手法とは 今となっては世界的に有名なボルゲリのワイン。ワイナリーの数も増える一方、ワイン史としては歴史の浅い産地で各社がそれぞれ個性を表現しようと研究が進んでいます。その中で、レ・マッキオーレは単一品種にすることこそが、最もボルゲリの個性がワインに現れると考えています。 一般的に、この地域では、ブレンドワインが主流で、国際的に受け入れられやすいワインを造っていますが、一方で個性に乏しく、ボルゲリのテロワールを体現していないワインが散見されるのも事実です。毎年同じような品質のワインを造るのが容易になる一方、ヴィンテージの個性が出にくくなります。 単一品種では、気候から醸造まで、テロワールの要素すべてがストレートにワインに反映されます。ミスが許されず、完璧なワイン造りが必要になります。これがレ・マッキオーレの個性であり、ボルゲリの地を最も映し出したワインなのです。 ワイナート誌第4号『超トスカーナ』で大きく取り扱われて以来、 日本で瞬く間に人気者になった『レ・マッキオーレ』! -ガンベロ・ロッソでスリーグラスを獲得したスーパー・トスカーナ！- ●ワイナリー紹介 1998年秋に行われたイタリアで最も有名なワイン・ガイドブック『ガンベロ・ロッソ』主催のテースティングで、トスカーナワイン『パレオ1995』が、ボルゲリ・サッシカイア1995と同じスリーグラスという最高の評価を受けました。 パレオを産するレ・マッキオーレ社の畑はトスカーナ地方でもキアンティやブルネッロに継ぐ銘醸地として頭角を表しているボルゲリ地区にあります。サッシカイアもオルネライアもこの地区でつくられ、近年世界中からの熱い注目を浴びています。 ●ワインづくりについて ぶどうを破砕するときに機械作業を少なくしたため、タンニンがソフトになり、樽熟成させるのに最高の状態のぶどうジュースとなりました。 アルコール発酵は温度調節可能なステンレスタンクを用いて30度で約15日かけて行われた後、澱引きし225Lの樽に入れてマロラクティック発酵をさせました。新樽比率は50%で、残りの50%は2年目と3年目の樽を使用しています。 「メッソリオ」がワイナートNO4で紹介されました。 ＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝ トスカーナワイン好きが今年競って買い求めたワイン といえば、ボルゲリにあるレ・マッキオーレのパレ オ・ロッソである。世界中で人気が高く、日本への割 り当ては1200本だというから、買いそびれた人も多い だろう。パパレオ・ロッソの95年はもちろん良いワイ ンだが、今から皆が持ち望むグレートヴィンテージで ある97年と98年はさらに良い98年はさすがに暴れてい て強靱なタンニンにただただぶちのまされるだけだっ たが、97年の凝縮度と壮麗な香りには心酔した。 しかし、実はもっとすごいワインがレ・マッキオーレ にはある。ワインショップでは最も目立つ場所にうや うやしく飾られ（それでもダミーボトルだけで現物は ない）、フィレンツェのテノテカ・ピンキオーリのソ ムリエが絶賛し、また彼らがリストに載っている事を 自慢する、メルロ100％のメッソリオだ。 ところがこれこそトスカーナに来なければ絶対に入手 できない、いや、来たところで難しいワインなのだ。 まだまだ見たことも聞いた事もない人が多いのはしか たがないが、さすがに情報の早い日本のイタリアワイ ン好きの間ではもう噂が高まっているらしい。 実際 に今回のテイスティングで全ワイン中の最高得点を獲 得したのが、このメッソリオの95年だ。 ボルゲリなら ではの濃厚な果実味が爆発する、おそるべき凝縮度を もったワインである。さらにはボルゲリでは極めて成 功した年である98年のワインをバレルテイスティング したのだが、これはもう恐ろしいほど濃厚で、パワフ ルで、ふくよかで、堂々とした果実が迫る、今回テイ スティングしたワインの中で最も印象に残ったワイン のひとつであった。 この凝縮度はまさにボルゲリの 特徴をよく生かしたもの、といえる。そもそもボルゲ リはキャンティなどと比べ、はるかに温度が高い場 所。植樹する時期も、キャンティでは3月、モンタルチ ーノでは5月まで待たないと霜害がおきるそうだが、ボ ルゲリでは2月でいい、という。 ワイン造りに関する 考えは、ルカ・ダットーマをコンサルタントにしてい るだけあり、ブドウの純粋な力を引き出そうとしてい るようだ。メッソリオはメルロ100％だし、スクリオは シラー100％。・・・・・・・・・・・・・・そのあま り細かいことの言わないイタリアのワイナリーが多い なか、ここはバイオロジックな栽培をこころがけてい る。 一方、薬品は昔ながらに硫黄だけを使用するとい う。そして、ボルゲリは土壌を肥沃すぎるため、ブド ウの樹の成長を抑制することが大切だといい、株密度 は以前の畑で1ヘクタールあたり5000本。今年2月の植 樹分ではなんと1万本である。 そして1本の木から4、5房にとどめる、といったよう に、とにかくブドウの凝縮度を高める努力をしている のだ。 すなわちメッソリオのパワーは、土地、思 想、技術が同じ方向を向いているがゆえに増幅され た、考えぬかれた結果なのである。

Dense plum/purple-colored with sweet aromas of barbecue smoke, blueberries, blackberries, cassis, licorice, hot rocks and subtle oak, it is a splendidly opulent, pure wine with a skyscraper-like texture as well as stunningly deep fruit that expands gracefully across the palate. The finish lasts nearly a full minute. Because of its overwhelming richness and sweet tannins, this brilliant wine seems to be approachable now, but I suspect further nuances and complexity will emerge after 4-5 years in the bottle. This wine will still be going strong at age 25-30. Like the offerings from its sister estate, Bond, these Harlan Estate offerings are uncompromisingly brilliant examples of Napa viticulture and winemaking at its finest.
