Weltweit bekannt geworden ist der Verein jedoch nicht durch die vorbildliche Tugendhaftigkeit seiner Mitglieder, sondern vielmehr aufgrund regelm??iger Gewaltexzesse innerhalb der Rockerszene, sowie der Unterstellung in kriminelle Aktivit?ten wie Zuh?lterei, Raub, Schutzgelderpressung, Drogen-, Waffen- und Menschenhandel verstrickt zu sein. Auch in Deutschland geriet der gewaltsame, scheinbar eskalierende Konflikt zwischen Hells Angels und dem konkurrierenden Rockerclub Bandidos j?ngst zunehmend in den Blickpunkt von Medien und Polizeibeh?rden. Gerade der ?bertritt von 70 Mitgliedern der Bandidos in die Reihen der Hells Angels Ende Januar 2010 wird von den Sicherheitsbeh?rden als Beginn einer neuen Stufe der Gewalt und einem verst?rkten Kampf um die Vorherrschaft im Rotlichtmilieu, Drogen- und Waffenhandel, sowie Schutzgeldgewerbe angesehen. Folgt man der medialen Berichterstattung, ergibt sich das Bild einer Rockerszene, die abgekoppelt und unbeeindruckt vom staatlichen Rechtssystem nach eigenen Regeln operiert und diese Regeln niedrigschwellig mit Gewalt durchsetzt. Wohlwissend um massenmediale Eigenlogiken und die daraus resultierende ?berspitzung der Thematik im gesellschaftlichen Diskurs scheint es vor diesem Hintergrund und der erfolgreichen Abschottung der Hells Angels gegen?ber polizeilicher Aufkl?rung dennoch grotesk, von einem staatlichen Monopol physischer Gewaltsamkeit zu sprechen. Kernfrage dieser Arbeit wird es daher sein, ob die kriminellen Aktivit?ten der Hells Angels tats?chlich das staatliche Gewaltmonopol in Deutschland untergraben und so zu seiner Erosion beitragen. Selbstverst?ndlich kann in diesem Kontext ein ?bertreten gesetzlicher Grenzen oder speziell Erscheinungsformen organisierter, krimineller Gewalt nicht gleich das Ende des staatlichen Gewaltmonopols bedeuten. After the turn of the decade, notably ＜em＞Gimme Shelter,＜/em＞ in which the Stones appeared to be complicit in the Hells Angels' murder of a young black man, 1960s' music-and films about it-reverted to separate black and white traditions based respectively on soul and country. These produced blaxploitation and ＜em＞Lady Sings the Blues＜/em＞ on the one hand, and bigoted representations of Southern culture in ＜em＞Nashville＜/em＞ on the other. Ending with the deaths of their stars, both films implied that rock 'n' roll had died or even, as David Bowie proclaimed, that it had committed suicide. But in his documentary about Bowie, ＜em＞Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars＜/em＞, D.A. Pennebaker triumphantly re-affirmed the community of musicians and fans in glam rock.
