【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】From Zone to Zone with His Latest Invention The Wonderful Trip of Frank Read, Jr.【電子書籍】[ Luis Senarens ]

From Zone to Zone: It is easy to imagine that the steampunk movement ー science fiction featuring steam-powered inventions and a 19th-century style ー is purely a modern invention, an exercise in “what if there had been a Victorian equivalent to today’s sci-fi genre?” However, early science fiction actually included much more than just the well-remembered works of literary figures like Jules Verne, and there really were a wealth of popular stories about steam-powered robots and other wild inventions before the turn of the 20th century. Many of these fictional creations were the products of boy inventor Frank Reade and later, his son, Frank Reade, Jr. (bit.ly/2WNXmAO)

Harry Cohen wrote the Frank Reade, Sr. series as "Noname." Cohen also wrote as Harry Enton. In 1879, Luis Senarens took over the series and the pen name; he was only sixteen. Senarens began his first Frank Reade book by shoving Frank into middle-age, retiring him, and announcing that his son had taken over as an inventor. Senarens is said to have written under twenty-six names besides "Noname," but almost never as himself.

There is, understandably considering the circumstances, a bit of swearing involved. We do swear a bit in England, just put it down to eccentricity, or maybe our spirited Anglo-Saxon heritage.

Another unusual trait of the Brits, is to use humour in stressful situations. Just ask anyone who’s been on active service with the British Armed Forces.

The first child born on the Moon meets a light bow who becomes his friend. With Moon magic, the light bow takes the child to Planet Earth to discover what might make this special child happy. They visit a beach, a mountain, a desert, a forest, a farmland, and a jungle. Natural places make the child happy. There is a place where the moon child becomes sad. What is different about such a place? What will he do with all these things that make him happy and what must he do with the place that makes him sad?

This fantastical story is about true friendship, making choices, feeling happiness and sadness.

About the Author

Born and raised in Southern California, author Judyth Hopkins Wendkos remembers the many times her siblings spoke of their fun reading fantasies visiting the Wizard in the Emerald City of Oz or flying to Neverland with Peter Pan. Fairy Tales and fiction were a good part of these reading adventures. She was determined to also go on magical adventures.

At the age of twelve, her father was awarded a Fulbright Teacher Exchange Scholarship to Helsinki, Finland, where the family resided for a year. There she attended an American school which fostered a deep love of reading, and she was introduced to Nancy Drew and The Bobbsey Twins. This was the beginning of Judy’s travels into reading.

Earning her Masters in Library Science, she became a librarian in Washington, D.C., and Southern California, where she settled, got married, and had three boys who continued to venture into their own magical journeys with their heroes in Star Wars, comic books, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of the Rings. In troubled times Judy became a single parent raising her three sons and working her school library job where she introduced students to the Harry Potter books, a great influence in her desire to write a book.

Once remarried and retired, Judy traveled globally with her new husband for the next twenty years. They visited the real-life settings of magical, fantasy, and historical books. She decided to finally write a story and encouraged her youngest son to provide the illustrations. Her guiding light was that children do not need to grow up so quickly. They get enough reality! Let's not get rid of fairy tales and magical realms to explore. These help young children develop their own imagination, make friendships, and make choices.

Illustrator Andrew Michael Smith is a Student of Life who creates, adapts, and evolves. He grew up on the Pacific shores of Southern California in the bustling art and beach community, Laguna Beach. Known as an affluent birthplace of California Landscape Painting and the En Plain Air 19th century art movement, this coastal town molded Andrew’s aspiration of learning the Arts from landscape painting, naturalism, realism, abstract, life drawing, and illustration, which all became creative outlets.

Growing up, he loved cartoons and animation art: Walt Disney Movies, Looney Tunes, The Jetsons, Flintstones, GI-Joe, He-Man, Transformers, and ThunderCats. They were imaginative stories featuring creative artistry. In his later teens, Andrew discovered Japanese Anime which released a new appreciation of Fantasy and Sci-Fi illustration.

Andrew’s mother provided him with the brilliant opportunity to collaborate on her book and illustrate Moon Child, Moon Magic. They are delighted to share this magical and inspiring story together.

He's been separated from his friends, and his friend Harry never made it to Bengus-6 at allーhe was whisked off in a shuttle by one of the Ghovik. Desperate to find his friends and escape the slave market, Parker is drawn to a tall, blue alien with a mane of blue hair. He's dark, dangerous, and so hot Parker can't look away. And Zhor can't deny the strength of his desire. The only thing he can do is get the human off his ship as soon as they land.

Too bad Parker has been voted onto the crew, has located one of his friends, and has discovered a cargo aboard the freighter that changes their entire mission from a simple salvage job to something that could get them all killed…

Reader note: contains gay Sci-Fi Romance, alpha aliens, and a happily ever after

“Blood and Iron is a masterpiece.”ーSci Fi Weekly

World War IーThe Great Warーhas ended, and an uneasy peace reigns around the world. Nowhere is it more fragile than on the continent of North America, where bitter enemies share a single landmass and two long, bloody borders. In the North, proud Canadian nationalists try to resist the colonial power of the United States. In the South, the once-mighty Confederate States have been pounded into poverty and merciless inflation. The time is right for madmen, demagogues, and terrorists. With Socialists rising to power in the U.S., and a dangerous fanatic in the Confederacy preaching a doctrine of hate, more than enough people are eager to return the world to war.

**“A master storyteller as well as a trained historian with an imagination . . . [Turtledove] has succeeded in taking title as the premier writer in [alternate history], relentlessly asking what if one or two key events in our reality happened differently. The result is fascinating.”ーHouston Chronicle

“Turtledove is a master at weaving details of ordinary life into a much bigger canvas to produce a world that so easily could have been our own. Every time the gate opens something explosive happens forcing me to answer its call. Just like with any door demons, monsters and other Otherworlders comes out and not all of them are very friendly. 【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Glowgems for Profit【電子書籍】[ Bruce Davis ]

The first book of the Profit Logbooks Series sets the stage for a whole new universe of adventure in the stars.

Zack Mbele, captain of the independent freighter Profit, needs cash fast. There’s a loan payment due on the ship, not to mention a bogus Customs duty imposed by a crooked official. They’ll seize his ship if he doesn't pay up and he has few prospects.

When an old friend calls with a lead on a job, Zack isn’t too picky about obeying the letter of the law. All he has to do is smuggle someone out of Highpoint, a huge space station orbiting between the Earth and the Moon.

It's not all that easy, as a beautiful assassin and the Red Dragons gang complicate things. Suddenly Zack is involved in a maze of double-cross and murder as he races the Dragons and a shadowy para-military army for the greatest prize of all.

Review Quote-

"That's the next thing you should know: these are great heroes. Davis has created a fantastic hard-boiled sci-fi hero in Zack Mbele. He's got a complicated past, remarkable abilities, good friends for whom he has fierce loyalty, a deep cynicism and an inability to trust strangers, and a lone wolf streak a mile wide: he's Sam Spade and Harry Dresden and Simon Green's John Taylor and all the rest of those kinds of guys." - Theoden Humphrey, Amazon

Excerpt-

"I stood up and turned toward the exit. I took half a step and stopped, sighed, and turned back. I had made a deal with the man. That still counted for something with me.

I bent over him and pulled him into a sitting position. The nanos extended into my arms and legs and I hoisted him easily into a fireman’s carry across my back and shoulders.

The small crowd that had gathered when the shooting stopped backed away.
